Anywhere you are on your journey, no matter what you have gone through before, you know you can always go through another Dark Night of the Soul. Infact, it is a certainty. The first one initiates your ascension, making you look around at your crumbling existence and take stock of who you are. It makes you question every choice you’ve ever made and analyze in crucial detail the relationships in your life, causing you to abandon some of them, as well as your beliefs, even some of your morals and long-standing habits and behaviors. That Dark Night crushes your soul because you are so busy searching for it. It is a complete journey inward. You go through so much upheaval, utter life changes and others might say they don’t know you anymore. You don’t know yourself, only that you couldn’t live with that former person that you were, that imposter living in your body. You don’t know anything about shadow work and probably little about spirituality at this stage so it feels like you are losing your mind, you might even have to be hospitalized. Just when it seems that the entire world is against you and things will never look up, they start to get better. Little everyday things start going your way, life gets a little easier. Things start making sense. That overwhelming need to understand is replaced with a sense of finally getting somewhere as understanding creeps in, and it’s not from one source sitting you down and giving you the Keys to the Universe, but you are more aware now, the pain and fog has subsided, and you can take in the clues the Universe is providing to your questions. You aren’t frantically searching for signs, but they are there in little everyday synchronicities and Divine timing. You start to get your life together and experience a period of calm and stability, nothing fantastic is happening but you’re happy. Then time passes and life picks up, you start to forget about the Dark Night of the Soul and some of the lessons you learned. You worry about the future, caught up in your everyday life, too hectic to practice mindfulness and give too much attention to your spirituality. You know you are a good person, and you have paid your dues, you have faced your karma, however the Universe’s lessons are cyclical. Whatever we didn’t learn in the first dark Night of the Soul will come back for us to repeat in another experience later in our lives. This can completely out of the blue for some people. My second Dark Night was ten times worse than my first, I lost everything. All you can do is give in to it. Going through it, you know what it is, and you know the only thing you can control is yourself because you have zero control of the outcome, so you have to let go of your attachment to it and see yourself as already having come through it ok. Trusting the process is also key, there will be many lessons along the way and focusing on those lessons will give you strength. You will learn who you are and what you are made of and who you will never be again. It might be against all odds, but you will survive, because the connection we have with our Higher Selves is so incredible and the work being done behind the scenes by the Universe to protect and guide us is so unbelievable, that this Dark Night is just a steppingstone in a life filled with blessings and abundance, just waiting for us. So, we shouldn’t fear the next one, because we’ll make it through, and it will be the catalyst that propels us forward onto our highest timeline yet.
